Needles

Ladies, As a reminder when working with your Viking and White Sergers:

When removing needles DO NOT tighten the needle screw unless you are inserting another needle. The needle screws on these brand sergers are designed not to fall out. Tightening a needle screw without a needle inserted could cause damage to the needle clamp. To repair this damage it is not considered warranty by the manufacturer. If you are concerned about loosing a  needle screw, we recommend you keep an extra on hand. Extra needle screws are less costly than replacing a needle clamp.

Although this notice pertains to Viking and White sergers, we recommend this procedure for all makes and models of sergers.

My thread keeps shredding and breaking as I sew. How can I stop that?

First, change your needle. Frequently the needle is too large for your fabric, or the wrong type for your thread, (Some thread needs a special needle) or it may just be dull.
Second, try  adjusting your tension. Make sure you also have good quality thread. If you are using thread that was your grandmother's it may be brittle.

NV 4000D Threading System Tip:

The automatic threading function can be used with sewing machine needles 75/11 through 100/16.

Thread such as transparent nylon monofilament thread and thread with a thickness of 130/20 or thicker cannot be used with the automatic threading threading function.

The automatic threading threading function cannot be used with the wing needle or the twin needle.

If the automatic threading function cannot be used, see "Threading Manually" on page 27 of your manual.

Web Master

Hello, my name is Mary and I am the "Web Master" for Dave, Rebecca, and Vicky. I hope you are enjoying the website, but most importantly, we hope we have useful and up-to-date information for you and your sewing needs. If you have any suggestions or comments about the website, please send me an e-mail mrobson@grics.net and I will talk it over with "The Team."

If you have any "technical" sewing machine questions for Kent, our "Tech Expert" I will try to get Kent to post his answers here.

Cleaning Your Outside Machine Finish

Let me start with this tip. Last week I asked Kent how to clean the outer part of my Innov-is 4000D. I think my humidifier left a residue on the case or Rebecca thinks it could be that I burn candles at home too. Kent showed me a bottle of his Isopropyl Alcohol 91% to use.

Kent also warned me to be careful not to get the screen display wet.
